UoN Discuss Collaboration with Rwandan University

University of Nairobi is discussing possible collaboration with the University of Tourism, Technology and Business Studies from Rwanda. The collaboration will enable staff and students exchange programs and help enhance joint research. This was revealed during a courtesy call by the Rwandan team on March 9, 2020.

Speaking during the event, the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Kabera Callixte, University of Tourism, Technology and Business Studies, observed that they would be glad to work with a leading university in the region, the University of Nairobi to enable Rwandese students enjoy cultural exchange, internships, industrial relations, teaching and learning in a different country.  The program, sponsored by Volkswagen , so far incorporate several countries ;  Kenya, Germany, Singapore, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi. The aim is to advance social enterprise among students in developing countries.

University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama, supported the idea, noting that experiential learning is the way to go. He advised that a Memorandum of Understanding, (MOU) should be signed to enable a well laid out collaboration that will see staff and students benefit from the exchange programs.

The ten days learning program will enable students and staff to learn about data collection, data coding and data analysis. “The program teaches new ways of doing research, “says Prof. X. N. Iraki from the School of Business, (SOB).  Prof. Iraki observed that the program will enable students to visit several entrepreneurial innovations, business startups as they immerse in diverse cultural experiences in a bid to revive the East African spirit.
