Prof. Margaret Jesang’ Hutchinson is the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi. She is first ever female to hold the position of a Vice Chancellor since its inception in 1970. Prof. Hutchinson, who assumed office in Acting Capacity on Monday, August 5, 2024 is also the Substantive Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Enterprise) and Immediate Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance, Planning and Development) at the University of Nairobi.

His Excellency the President, Dr. William Ruto, has appointed Professor Patrick Verkooijen, CEO of the Global Center on Adaptation, as Chancellor of the University of Nairobi. He will formally take up the role on 1st February 2024. Professor Verkooijen becomes the University’s first Chancellor from overseas.

This year's annual security training was held from 27th-29th December 2023, at the Chandaria auditorium. It was attended by both internal and outsourced security staff. Self-defense, fire safety and customer care were among the training topics.
