New Director for Security and Safety Services

Dr. Samson Murangiri Mukaria is the newly appointed Director, for Security and Safety Services, effective September 2020.

Dr. Mukaria has served in various capacities for the Government of Kenya. He was a police station commander of several police stations in different counties.

He is a technically-advanced information security manager with skills in software administration, criminal investigations and data communications. Dr. Mukaria is adept at closing critical loopholes, maximising security options and staying ahead of current risks.

63rd Graduation ceremony

A record 2,851 graduands were conferred degrees and awarded diplomas by the Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi at the 63rd Graduation Ceremony on September 25, 2020 held at the Great Court.

'This graduation is a historical moment for our university and will be recounted in the annals of history as the first virtual graduation ceremony of the University of Nairobi,” said the Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi.

PURPOSE OF CARRYING OUT SECURITY SURVEILLANCE

Surveillance is valuable investigative tool that can provide information about the activities and identities of individuals. To carry out a successful surveillance security personnel must be alert, discreet and cautious. Surveillance requires great patience, versatility, careful observation skills and a good memory.

COMMON WORK PLACE HAZARDS

A hazard is an agent which has the potential to cause harm to a vulnerable target. Workplace hazards are any aspects of work that cause health and safety risks and have the potential to harm.

Trailing power cords, loose or frayed carpets and rugs, spills etc, all these can cause a sleep, a trip, or a fall in the workplace and result in physical and mental impacts on an injured employee.
