Prof George Magoha Dies Aged 71

Prof George Albert Omore Magoha, a former UoN Vice Chancellor passed away on January 24th 2023 at the Nairobi Hospital, following a cardiac arrest. The University fraternity is shocked and deeply saddened by his demise.

BILL GATES TOWN HALL DISCUSSION AT UON

On 17th November 20222, the University hosted Bill Gates, the Microsoft founder and American businessman in a student engagement forum at Chandaria auditorium.The engagement focused on climate change, innovation and food  security as well as innovative approaches to bolster efforts to increase food security and climate adaptation across Africa.The Event was live streamed on the University's you tube and UNCTV channels.

TREE PLANTING EXERCISE

The University fraternity and its partners gathered and planted 11,000 tree seedlings on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. This is in line with the president’s directive for all citizens and organizations to help the government achieve its aim of planting 5 billion trees as part of its climate mitigation agenda.

The University partnered with other guests from Hearts of Green, Platinum Credit, Qwetu Hostels,KEFRI, and KFS. 

Security officers participated in the exercise.

Fire Response Training at Faculty of Health Sciences

On 27th May 2022, Jolemac Protection Ltd trained a group of staff and students at Faculty of Health Sciences on fire response skills. This was to improve people's knowledge on fire prevention and response in the event of fire. This was also done to enhance compliance with Occupational safety standards on fire and fire risk reduction rules 59 of 2007.

Annual Tree planting day

On May 13, 2022, security personnel led by Acting Director, Mr Francis Kyulu, participated in a tree planting exercise at the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, where 7000 trees were planted by the university community and its partners.
