Fire Response Training at Faculty of Health Sciences

On 27th May 2022, Jolemac Protection Ltd trained a group of staff and students at Faculty of Health Sciences on fire response skills. This was to improve people's knowledge on fire prevention and response in the event of fire. This was also done to enhance compliance with Occupational safety standards on fire and fire risk reduction rules 59 of 2007.

Annual Tree planting day

On May 13, 2022, security personnel led by Acting Director, Mr Francis Kyulu, participated in a tree planting exercise at the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, where 7000 trees were planted by the university community and its partners.

Courtesy call to the VC by the Officer Commanding Station Central Police Station

The Officer Commanding Station Central Police Station paid a courtesy   call to the university of Nairobi Vice chancellor, Prof kiama Gitahi on 28 February 2022 to discuss matters of mutual interest, Members also in the meeting included the director security and safety services UoN Dr Murangiri, the Director corporate affairs Mr.

SECURITY & SAFETY AWARENESS DAY

On  February 24, 2022, the department of Security and Safety services led by the Director Dr Samson Murangiri held a virtual awareness sensitization to equip staff and students with the necessary skills and knowledge to avert potential risks, threats and hazards to life and property. 

Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, the Chief Operations Officer Mr Brian Ouma emphasized on the need to be more vigilant, work closely with external security agencies as well as continuously train outsourced security officers on customer care and security matters. 

GRADUATE LIBRARY

The University of Nairobi Main Campus graduate library was on 14th June, 2021 officially opened in a celebration held at the Campus. External affairs minister,  Dr S Jaishankar  commissioned the facility. Other inattendance digniteries were University Chancellor Dr. Vijoo Rattansi, Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama  and the University Council chair Prof. Julia Ojiambo.

The  library has a seattting capacity of 500 persons, well designed and equiped to provide adequate print and electronic resources to the post graduate students.

FAKE CAR PARK STICKERS

The Security department has in the recent past identified instances of cars trying to access the University with fake car parking stickers hence the need to remind the University community that such acts atracts criminal proceedings as well as internal disciplinary action.

All staff and students are therefore advised to get genuine car parking stckers issued at Director Security and Safety Services office at Main Campus.
