A record 8,428 graduates were conferred degrees and awarded diplomas by the Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi at the University of Nairobi’s 62nd graduation ceremony.
At the fete, Prof. Patricia Kameri- Mbote went down in history as the first woman to receive the Degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D) of the University of Nairobi.
The graduation summary was 737 Diploma awards, 5413 Bachelor degree awards, 54 Post-graduate diploma awards, 2130 Master degree awards, 27 Fellowship awards, 56 Doctor of Philosophy degree awards and 1Higher Doctorate Degree Award.
14 bright and needy students from the University of Nairobi have benefited from Mitsubishi Corporation scholarship. The joyful students couldn’t hide their joy when they received the good news. Each student will get a cash stipend of Kshs. 65,200/-
There was pomp and colour as the book title – Knowledge for Wealth Creation: A Kenyan Perspective was launched at the University of Nairobi. The book, a product of the University’s Elimika project, has eight authors and is edited by Prof. Judith Bahemuka, Joshua Kivuva and Dr. George Michuki.

The University of Nairobi has received an excellent rating by a delegation from the Africa Union mission who visited the University to evaluate management on AU Scholarship funds.
This was revealed by Dr. Yohannes Woldetensae, AU evaluation mission when the team paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor on Wednesday December 4, 2019.
